Nacogdoches woman makes Christmas edition Longhorn soap

When you think of a longhorn, you think Texas.

"It's is a Texas thing,"said Michelle Filer, owner of Texas Longhorn Soap Company.

Filer has come up with a creation that uses the longhorn to keep Texans clean.  She says after spending tons on chemical filled products,  she decided to whip up her own.

"I said I can make that so I made some, and I gave it to my friends for Christmas gifts. They wanted to buy it. They just loved the product," said Filer.

It's a natural soap that stands out from the rest. It's made with longhorn milk and all its natural benefits.

"I said I think I'd be better off making soap with this,"said Filer.

The little lady behind it all is Miss Ellie.

"Miss Ellie is one of my favorites. She is the sweetest cow. She provides the milk for the soap."said Filer.

Filer has a gang of animals, but Miss Ellie's milk is the only milk used to create the silky soaps.  After the success of the soaps, she continued to create new fragrances with unique names like "Cowboy" and "Guinness Beer."

"I love creating things that people love," said Filer.

She even made Christmas fragrances like the "Piney woods" bar just to bring out the piney scent of the holidays.  She says she enjoys not only the product, but the time she spends making it.

"I love my animals. I love my cows. I love spending time outside with them,"said Filer.

She's had success with Texas Longhorn Soap Company, and she says she wants to keep it that way.

"It's a Texas product, and I want to keep it local,"said Filer.

She also makes a host of other products naturally including candles and lotions.  She says they make the perfect last minute Christmas gifts.
