LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin police arrested a man who is accused of running a stop sign, engaging in a police chase and driving intoxicated to his parents' home Thursday morning.
According to the police report, an officer saw the man, later identified as Javier Vargas Jr., 32, of Lufkin, run a stop sign at the intersection of Jodie Street and Charlton Street, becoming almost airborne in doing so around 7 a.m.
Vargas refused to stop and drove down Second Street to Timberland Drive, then to First Street, then to South Raguet Street, before stopping at his parents' home on Lynn Street, according to the report.
Police arrested him on charges of DWI and state-jail felony evading arrest.
According to the report, Vargas did not exceed 60 miles per hour.
