Authorities: Lufkin woman hit mom with cane after argument over coffee

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office arrested a Lufkin woman accused of hitting her mother with her own cane during an argument over coffee Thursday morning.

Celis Maria Malone, 54, is charged with third-degree injury to elderly.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called out to the 200 block of Ridgewood Street at 7:55 a.m.

Deputies reported learning that Malone had been in an argument over coffee with her 76-year-old mother. Malone then took her mother's cane and hit her with it, according to the report, before throwing her on the floor and kicking her.

Malone's mother suffered minor injuries.

Malone's bond has not yet been set.
