NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches police arrested a man who is accused of pulling a knife on his girlfriend following a several-hours long argument about holiday stress Thursday morning.

Eufemio Manuel Malpica, 32, is charged with second-degree aggravated assault, class-A interfering with an emergency call and class A violation of a protective order.

According to the report, officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of North Street at 6:23 a.m. Officers said they could hear screaming from inside the apartment and had to force their way inside.

The woman said she and her boyfriend had been arguing for several hours over holiday stress and it escalated to the point of him threatening her with a knife after he had already assaulted her.

She said he also kept her from calling police and that there was an active protective order against him.
