Lufkin Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week: Car wash burglars

From Lufkin Crime Stoppers

Around 4:00 AM October 29, two men burglarized the change machines at a car wash on Southwood Drive in Lufkin.

Security cameras at the car wash show that the burglars drove a dark-colored Dodge Ram extended-cab truck with several decals on its rear window and a bed full of tools and junk, including a ladder and a five-gallon bucket like the type used for paint.

The low light video makes it difficult to identify the suspects' physical characteristics but the driver is balding and might shave the little hair that does grow on his head. He was wearing a light-colored t-shirt with what could be an image of antlers on its back. The passenger wore multi-color pants, possibly a camouflage pattern, a long-sleeve shirt, and a baseball cap with the bill turned to the side of his head.

Under the Crime of the Week section of www.LufkinCrimeStoppers.com, you can view portions of the security videos.

For an hour and a half the suspects worked to open the machines, first prying with tools and then bringing an acetylene torch from the truck to try cutting their way to the prize. Something must have startled them because they left the torch and gas bottles behind when they fled from the scene.

If you can identify these criminals or provide information regarding this burglary, call Crime Stoppers at (936) 639-TIPS or submit a tip at www.LufkinCrimeStoppers.com. All calls and tips are anonymous and Crime Stoppers may pay a reward if the information you provide leads to an arrest related to this crime.
