Video shows Texas A&M assistant hitting West Virginia players in Liberty Bowl
(RNN) - A Texas A&M student assistant coach was removed from the sideline after hitting two different West Virginia players on different plays in the first half of Monday's Autozone Liberty Bowl.
Student assistant coach Mike Richardson, a former Aggies linebacker, hit two players after they ran out of bounds. The contact was not incidental.
ESPN reported that coach Kevin Sumlin was told about the incidents at halftime and made Richardson stay in the locker room in the second half, according to a statement from Texas A&M athletic department spokesman Brad Marquardt.
