HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

On Monday morning, the Houston County Commissioners will have a special called meeting to vote approval for a third-party consultant to be hired to help find a new provider in the wake of East Texas Medical Center's decision to end its ambulance service in the county.

They will also vote on allowing County Judge Erin Ford the rights to negotiate with the companies on his own and without the attendance of the commissioners.

Last month, ETMC announced they would stop ambulance service to the majority of the county starting March 14th.

That public meeting is 10 a.m. in the commissioners court room.
