CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Crockett Police officers arrested a 28-year-old man early Thursday morning in connection to allegations that he stabbed two people during a brawl that took place at the Hy-Top Club.
Cedric Benloss, of Crockett, was booked in to the Houston County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No information was available on his bail amount.
According to a press release, Crockett Police officers responded to the Hy-Top Club in the 700 block of Cottonwood Street in reference to a large group of people fighting. The caller also said that someone had a gun and shots were being fired from within the large crowd of people.
When the CPD officers arrived on the scene, they started to disperse the crowd, and then someone directed them to an assault victim. The man had three stab wounds to his side and back.
The officers assisted the victim until an East Texas Medical Center EMS ambulance arrived on the scene. During the investigation, Benloss was identified as the suspect.
The press release stated that another man arrived at the ETMC emergency room about 10 minutes later, and he had a stab wound to his right hand. Further investigation revealed that man had been cut during in the brawl at the Hy-Top Club.
Both victims were taken to another hospital for further treatment of their injuries,
After Crockett PD detectives interviewed witnesses, they got an arrest warrant for Benloss. He was arrested later Thursday and transported to the Houston County Jail.
