ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - While an Angelina County Sheriff's deputy was investigating an alleged drunk driver early Thursday morning, two of the man's friends walked to the scene of the traffic stop and also failed field sobriety tests, according to a an ACSO activity report.
Brent Alan Allman, 27, of Lufkin, was arrested and taken to the Angelina County Jail. He was charged with driving while intoxicated-second offense. After posting a $1,500 bail, Allman was released from the jail later Thursday.
James Jackson Yeates, 25, and David Michael Gray, both of Lufkin, were arrested and charged with public intoxication. Each man posted a $500 bail and was released later that day.
According to the activity report, an ACSO stopped a vehicle on Highway 94 for a traffic violation and found the driver to be intoxicated. While the deputy was investigating the DWI offense, another man walked up to the scene.
Allman identified the man and said that he was a friend who could drive his vehicle. However, the second man wasn't able to pass the field sobriety test, and he was arrested.
A third man walked up to the scene a short time later. After he, too, was identified as a friend of Allman, he also failed the field sobriety test.
