Nacogdoches High School has decided to make a $1.1 million investment towards renovating their athletic facilities.
The renovations include new turf for their football field that will also accommodate other sports including soccer. New goal posts will also be installed.
The Dragons are in the works of laying down a new track to outline the new turf that they hope to have done by March for the track season. Also, behind the visitor bleachers will be a new high jump and long jump area that is currently under construction.
Athletic Director Farshid Niroumand said the success of the football program in recent years helped push the idea of making the renovations, that he also said were long overdue.
“I have been here 33 years and I'm sure before I came, the field condition were the same. However, the last two or three years the field condition was pretty miserable. If you attended any of our games or played on this field, you realized what I am talking about,” said Niroumand. “It was about time we had a face lift and I am firm believer that if we were going to do it, let's do it right once so we don't have to do maintenance constantly.”
