LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Nearly a year after getting cut from the reality show competition and among the indictment of a man charged in his brother's death, a Jasper man made his "American Idol" comeback Thursday night.
Savion Wright was an early favorite in 2014, but was cut before the round of 30.
On Thursday's episode, Wright sang a rendition of Eric Clapton's "Change the World." The judges, Harry Conick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban gave him a pass for Hollywood.
Wright said he is a senior at Baylor now and has taken the criticism from last year and improved himself.
Wright is the brother of Alfred Wright, who was found dead in Sabine County in November 2013. Shane Dwayne Hadnot, 28, has pleaded guilty to selling drugs to Alfred Wright and causing his death.
