Lufkin mayor praises city workers in Chamber address

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin's Mayor Bob Brown addressed a packed house at the monthly First Friday Luncheon Friday.

Brown's annual State of the City address focused on the new employees the city hired, as well as current economic projects in Lufkin.

He praised the hiring of Keith Wright at the city manager level. Steve Floyd is his replacement and also Gerald Williamson took over the police department.

Brown also praised the development of the GE expansion at the foundry and the expansion of Holmes Smokehouse to Lufkin.

He also feels city workers deserve credit.

"We talk about police and fire and I love them to death and thank them for everything they do," Brown said. "They are first responders, but so are water and sewer, so is the street department and whatever needs to be done in the city to keep it safe."
