LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - It has been a week full of emotion for Lufkin's biggest Cowboys fan, Joe Cates.
A week ago, Cowboy Joe was celebrating one of the biggest wins for the Cowboys in the last two decades, after the team beat the Detroit Lions 24-20 in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.
On Monday, Cates was at a loss for words after the Cowboys fell to the Green Bay Packers 26-21.
Cates said there were several blown calls in the game, and he said he still can't believe the call everyone is talking about.
"I still think this was our year, and I still think it could have been if the call was made right," Cates said.
The call Cates is talking about was a reversed ruling on a catch by Lufkin native Dez Bryant on a 4th and two with a little more than four minutes left in the game.
The officials stated that Bryant did not make a football move before the ball came out of his control.
"Bryant takes Three steps," Cates said. "He's going down, he leans out and reaches out trying to put the ball across the goal line. That's not a football move? What the heck is a football move?"
Despite the call from the officials, Cates said Bryant is still number one to him.
"He works extra," Cates said "He studies and he practices. One of the first players in and last to leave, and he works hard."
With the season over, Cates said his focus is shifting to the 2015 NFL Draft. Every year Cates ranks about 250 players in order based on the Cowboys' needs.
"The defensive line is good," Cates said."There's some pass rushers we can get. The offensive line is decent. There is a running back in case we don't re-sign Murray. We need to keep this team intact."
