SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) - San Augustine Police officers arrested a 41-year-old man after he allegedly got into an altercation with his 65-year-old mother and pushed her down, causing her to hit her head on some furniture Monday night.
Lathan Johnson, 41, of San Augustine, is still being held in the San Augustine County Jail on third-degree felony injury to the elderly. No bail information was available.
Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham of the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office said according to the arrest affidavit, two SAPD officers responded to a disturbance call at a house in the 900 block of Elm Street at about 10 p.m. Monday. When they got there, they found an elderly woman on the floor with a large knot on her forehead and a cut on her right arm.
Cunningham said blood was found in the living room and in one of the bedrooms.
The affidavit said the son got into an argument with his mother and shoved her to the floor. In the process, she hit her head on some furniture.
Johnson was arrested at the scene and taken to the San Augustine County Jail.
