TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 69-year-old Groveton man died Sunday night after he tried to stop his pickup when it started rolling backward, and it struck him.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Trinity County DPS troopers responded to the scene of an auto-pedestrian crash on Baker lane, off of FM 355, at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday.
The preliminary accident investigation indicates that Lloyd Dean Pruitt had just gotten out of his 1999 Ford pick-up on a private driveway off Baker Lane when it started rolling backward. He tried to stop the truck, and it hit him on Baker Lane, the press release stated.
Pruitt was pronounced dead at the scene, and the accident is still under investigation.
