Jasper Co. man dies while fighting grass fire

JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - An 81-year-old Jasper County man died after he tried to put out a grass fire on County Road 296 Monday.

Jasper County Sheriff Mitchell Newman said that James Clark was trying to put out the fire himself and died. It is believed that Clark died as a result of a heart attack, Newman said. He didn't die as a result of injuries caused by the fire.
