DIBOLL, TX (KTRE) - The City of Diboll has a new police chief.
It was announced Wednesday that Steve Baker will permanently replace Ricky Connor. Baker took on the position of interim chief back in August after Conner was placed on suspension pending an investigation.
Baker has 26 years of law enforcement experience, 22 of those years have been with the Diboll Police Department. He says his top priority is going to be taking narcotics off the streets.
"Narcotic activity and narcotic investigation is something that we are going to focus on," said Baker. "There are so many crimes that are associated with narcotic such as your burglaries, assault, and thefts,"
He says focusing on this area will help cleans up the streets of Diboll.
Baker's accomplishments include -- Officer of the Year and Exceptional Duty in Narcotics from the City of Diboll. He says he is looking forward to continuing his efforts to serve the community of Diboll.
