The Boys and Girls club in Diboll is now offering boxing to its members.
Through donations and sponsors, the Boys and Girls Club was able to get their equipment and safety gear.
Eric Hernandez, director of the Boys and Girls Club, said the interest in the sport has grown as they have boys and girls boxing from ages 6-17 years old.
“We started off with about five kids and naturally it's getting bigger. They love it,” said Hernandez. “It teaches them discipline and teaches them how to control themselves.”
“It's fun because we always spar and after that we always chill and stuff,” said boxer Christian Terrazas. “The coaches are great because they always teach me something I don't know.”
They box every night of the week except for Wednesdays and weekends from 6-8:30. The coaches are certified through the Boxing Association.
