LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Monday marked the beginning of Catholic Schools Week, and Lufkin's St. Patrick's Catholic School kicked off their week with a philanthropic twist to crazy hat and sock day!
Students donned colorful hats and socks and also brought a pair to donate to community shelters such as Love INC.
St. Patrick's campus chaplain, Anne Menz, explained there is much to look forward to this week, as it is the schools 60th anniversary.
"Throughout the week, we like to do things that are fun, and tomorrow, they are going to bring a dollar for the fuel fund," Menz said. "Thursday is jeans and jackets for Jesus, and that goes to those in our community that need help with having warmer clothing for the cold winter months. "
The county bishop and Mayor Bob Brown are set to finish off St. Patrick's Catholic Schools Week this Friday with 9 a.m. mass.
