Renovations of Kurth Animal Shelter completed

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The recent renovations of The Kurth Memorial Animal has been completed.

The shelter moved animals out of the holding room for several weeks while they replaced the floor that was 15 years-old.

During the renovations, the shelter moved an estimated 60 animals out of the shelter while the renovations took place. Animal Control Director Aaron Ramsey said the move was a success for the shelter.

" Most of the fosters are continuing to hang on to those dogs and continue to foster them until they get a forever home, Ramsey said. "Which is great for us, because we receive a lot of animals here and it's really nice to get that help from the community."

Ramsey said that there were animals sent to other shelters who were adopted out which was also good news.
