Angelina County has been recognized by the National Weather Service as a Storm Ready County.

The designation means that the people who live in Angelina County are prepared to receive emergency information, and they know what to do when the national weather service issues warnings, alerts, advisories and all this helps save lives.

"The State of Texas has 254 counties, and I think only 80 counties right now have this certification so not quite half yet. They need to have that structure in place for 24/7, 365 information to be able to get that information and get it back out. so it's harder for very rural areas. The more populated, areas it's easier for them to do that," said the meteorologist-in-charge, at the National Weather Service office in Shreveport, LA.

The National Weather Service representative said that Angelina County has all the necessary tools to collect the warnings and then send them out to the public during weather events.
