LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin High School seniors gathered for an assembly featuring a very unique speaker this Wednesday morning. Thirty-two-year-old Sean Carter and his mother spoke to the class about the effects of drinking and driving.
Ten years ago, Carter was the passenger of a drunk driving accident, and today, he travels to tell his story to young adults.
Despite his inability to speak, he tells his story through his iPad, in an effort to prevent drunk driving accidents like his from happening to others.
"I stand here in my wheel chair looking at you, thinking how I was just once like all of you," Carter said. "I was not born needing a wheel chair. Choices I made put me here."
The assembly was organized in part by the Pilot Club of Lufkin.
