JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

US Marshals have arrested a couple who are persons of interest in the death of a Jasper man in November.

According to Jasper County Sheriff Mitchell Newman, Robert Mounts, 48, and Ashley Nicole Lewis, 29, were arrested in Terre Haute, Indiana.

They are arrested on Jasper County charges of credit card abuse and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. "They have made a living out of conning," Newman said.

Newman said they are persons of interest in the death of Herbert W. Deaton, 85.

"He's wanted out of Maine also on a couple charges of indecency with a child," Newman said.

Deaton was reported missing on Nov. 11 after family members could not get in touch with him.

Jasper authorities went to search for Deaton and found a dead body off of County Road 73, eight miles from Jasper. The body was identified as Deaton's today, and the cause of death was ruled by an autopsy report as homicidal violence.

"The family wants closure like anyone would want closure," Newman said.
