Shelby Co. Sheriff's Office seeking help finding man who allegedly shot at boy

SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Investigators with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office are seeking the public's help in finding a man who allegedly fired a rifle at a juvenile near Shelbyville on Monday.

According to a press release, Shelby County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a juvenile who had been shot at by an unknown person around 5:15 p.m. on Monday.

When the deputies arrived at the residence on State Highway 87, a boy told them that he had been checking some traps on his own property when he spotted an unknown person described as a tall, thin black man with a bald head that was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans.

The boy told the deputies that he waved at the unknown man when they were about 50 yards apart. At that point, the man raised a "long firearm" at him and fired, the press release stated.

SCSO deputies and a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper searched the area, but they were unable to find the person.
