It is the "World's Largest Baby Shower," and its purpose is to help new and expectant mothers. The outpouring generosity from the community is helping a second-time mom provide for her family.
32-year-old Cecilia Cepeda is expecting her second child, a baby girl. It was two years ago when her first child was born, Hugo. It was then she knew she needed help.
Cepeda said, "At the time I was not really in the state where I could provide a lot for him."
The items collected during the "World's Largest Baby Shower" go to the Heartbeat Pregnancy Center, and the Pregnancy HELP Medical Center. The two agencies help nearly 800 mothers a year who are faced with unplanned pregnancies. That is how Cecilia was able to receive her baby shower gifts.
Organizers know mothers are in need of baby clothes, bottles, hooded towels, pretty much anything and everything, they say it is their way to help out.
Michelle Calvert, an organizer, said, "There's young woman in our community who face pregnant crisis...it gives resources to women who need things to get them through the tight spots."
Cecilia says she is faced some tough times, but she wants other mothers to know they are not alone, and there is help out there.
