LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) - Livingston Police officers arrested a 27-year-old man on Thursday in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl twice.
Brandon Lee James, of Livingston, is still being held in the Polk County Jail on a felony sexual assault of a child charge His bail has been set at $75,000.
Det. Leon Middleton with the Livingston Police Department, said that they received a call from a mother saying that she had found some disturbing texts on her 16-year-old daughter's cell phone.
"We investigated the texts and found that her daughter had a relationship with James and that the two had sex on two different occasions," Middleton said.
The warrant for James' arrest was issued on Jan. 23.
In the state of Texas, a child under the age of 17 cannot legally give consent to have sex.
