LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Victor Travis, the Ward 1 city councilman for the City of Lufkin is recovering after suffering a massive stroke while he was working as a substitute teacher at the middle school Wednesday.
According to a statement released by Victor Travis' family Friday morning, they are requesting that visitation be limited to family members and a very few close personal friends.
"He had a massive stroke but was able to reach the hospital in timely manner and received stroke treatment which doctors attribute to his remarkable ongoing daily improvement," the statement said. "He is expected to make a full recovery."
Victor Travis' wife, Andrea Travis, said in the statement that he is doing well. He is eating, talking, and receiving physical therapy. However, Andrea Travis said that she doesn't expect her husband to be able to attend next week's scheduled city council meeting.
"His rest and health are their primary concern," the statement said. "The family appreciates everyone's understanding and prayer."
