NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

There are quite a few people home sick with the flu tonight, but not enough school-age children in Nacogdoches to hurt school attendance numbers.

Nacogdoches ISD administrators are quite pleased that attendance is actually up for this time of year.

“November through the end of February, our attendance drops the most out of the whole school year, but we haven't been affected any more than any of the other districts,” said Dr. Ronnie Knox, the NISD assistant superintendent of business and operations. “Now I know Texas has been hit hard with the flu, but we're not seeing more than what we've seen in the past."

More than 6,400 students attend NISD schools. The current attendance rate is 96.8 percent.
