LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin outreach ministry is partnering up with Harold's House to help out children in tough situations.
Reigning Spirit Ranch is currently accepting duffel bags to give to children that are taken out of homes by Child Protective Services.
Items being collected are duffel bags, stuffed animals, books, coloring books/crayons, and basic hygiene items to stock the Loving Room at Harold's House and our county patrol cars. Children removed by law enforcement & CPS frequently have their items tossed into a trash bag. If law enforcement officers have access to these bags and stuffed animals, they can immediately begin to help the child feel more secure in a frightening situation.
"It's a terrifying situation, and that stuffed animal that they hand them immediately will help them relax and hopefully find some comfort in a bad situation," Tish Bryant said.
Suggested hygiene items include: toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs/brushs, soap, deodorant, shampoo, lotion; boys and girls underwear, and socks.
Gently used stuffed animals are also okay.
Items can be dropped off at Harold's House or LISD headquarters in downtown.
