NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 30-year-old woman for driving while intoxicated with a 2-year-old child in the car after she allegedly got involved in an accident on Virginia Avenue Monday afternoon.
Leah Michelle Waters, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a state-jail felony driving intoxicated with a child under the age of 15 charge, a Class B misdemeanor driving with license invalid or suspended with a previous conviction charge, a Class B misdemeanor making a false report to a police officer charge, a Class C misdemeanor driving with license suspended charge, and a Class C misdemeanor operating an unregistered motor vehicle charge.
No bail has been set on any of Walters' charges at this time.
According to a police report, the accident occurred in the 2200 block of Virginia Avenue between 2:04 and 2:48 p.m. Monday. Walters was the driver of a vehicle that was involved in an accident.
During the course of the accident investigation, the Nacogdoches PD officer learned that Walters had given false information and had been driving with a suspended driver's license. According to the police report, Walters showed signs of intoxication and performed poorly on the field sobriety tests.
Walters had a 2-year-old child in the car with her when the accident occurred, the police report stated.
After Walters was arrested at the scene, she was transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
