LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Third graders at Lufkin ISD's Slack Elementary are learning a lesson in giving and entrepreneurship this week, as they sell 25-cent "Valograms".
The "Valogram" comes with a personalized note and a piece of candy, which will be delivered to students and teachers at the end of the week.
"They really like it, and once we started making more money, they're really excited," said 3rd grade teacher Shannon Montes. "They did not like having to spend money first. They did not like being in the negative. but they are loving it, and I feel like they are really learning about how money works."
As a class, the students are tallying all the expenses and profits from the sale.
All the money earned from the project will be donated to Relay for Life.
As of this morning, they had raised just over $68.
