NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The first of 95 Main Street directors from around the state arrived Tuesday in Nacogdoches.
On Monday, new Main Street managers learned the ropes from the Texas Main Street Program coordinator. The professional development will be offered to all conference goers Tuesday. It goes all week long and offers advice on how to keep downtowns vital.
"Main Street is one of the tools that can be in your tool kit," said Debra Drescher, the state coordinator for the Texas Main Street Program. "It does send a message about the commitment of the community to carry out this work and pay attention to downtown day in and day out. That's part of what Main Street does."
Downtown vacancies, promotion, and a tour of downtown lofts are some of the topics and activities to be discussed through Friday in Nacogdoches.
