NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Motorists driving through Nacogdoches will experience a major detour during the Thursday morning commute.
Nacogdoches Police will close a portion of North Street as the department's traffic division conducts a reconstruction investigation of a fatal auto/ pedestrian accident last week.
All lanes of the 3200 block of North Street from Austin Street to Lakewood Street will be closed to vehicles between 6:30 and 7 a.m.
Traffic will be diverted east and west at the intersection of North Street and Austin Street. Drivers will detour east and west at the intersection of North Street and Lakewood Street, using Pearl and North Pecan as alternate routes.
Last Tuesday evening, 74-year-old Vernis Davis struck and killed by a 2003 Chevy pickup while he was crossing the street.
The driver of the truck has not been charged.
