Night work scheduled on Loop 287 Wednesday, Thursday night

LUFKIN, TX (News Release) - TxDOT has announced that work crews will be working Wednesday and Thursday night on Loop 287 and motorists should expect traffic to be closed to a single lane near Davisville Road during that time.

Webber Construction, contractor for the project, is expected to begin work at about 8 p.m. and conclude at about 6 a.m. both nights, February 18 and 19. During those hours traffic will be narrowed to one lane in a short area near Davisville Road.

Motorists traveling the area are urged to slow down through this phase of progress on the Loop 287/U.S. 59 Project and watch out for workers.

Work is ongoing in the area and includes constructing retaining walls along the westbound and eastbound Loop 287 main lanes beneath the United Pacific Railroad Overpass; cleanup in the westbound main lanes; painting the Direct Connector Bridge (the fly-over); and work is scheduled to begin soon from the intersection of Business 59 toward Ellen Trout Zoo.

The project has been designed to allow traffic on U.S. 59, U.S. 69 and Loop 287 to flow freely through the intersection of U.S. 59 and Loop 287 and improve vertical clearances at all bridges.
