Today, Lufkin Middle School special-needs children participated in an interactive magic show, "Hocus Focus!"
The program is designed to help children improve cognitive thinking skills, while incorporating the thrill and mystery of magicTravelingg Magician Kevin Spencer says this program is very rewarding for everyone involved.
"This sort of thing that we get to do in schools and with some of the organizations around town are some of the tricks that I used to perform when I first got started in magic," said Spencer. "Great tricks! Really fun tricks to do! We just found out that they also really help these guys with the skills that they find challenging."
Spencer says there is no better feeling than watching these students break out of their shell.
"When you realize as an artist, that what you do to entertain people, also has the ability to impact the quality of their life, like you've seen today, that is hugely rewarding," said Spencer.
Spencer will be performing his full show tomorrow evening at The Pines Theatre in downtown Lufkin and tickets are still available for purchase. For more information contact Artistic Director of The Pines Theatre at email@example.com.
