Authorities: Pollok man upset by no IRS check tries to get wife to cut her wrists

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Pollok man accused of assaulting his common-law wife and trying to get her to cut her own wrists, all because a refund check was not in the bank account Thursday afternoon.

According to the sheriff's office report, deputies responded to a home on the 800 block of FM 1819 at 1:18 p.m.

The report states Mitchel Todd Elliott, 25, became irate that an IRS refund check was not in the bank account. It states he spat in his wife's face, slapped her with an open hand and tried to force her to cut her wrists.

He is charged with third-degree assault causing bodily injury family violence.
