LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - About 30 law enforcement officers from Angelina County Sheriff's Office and Lufkin police were in the area of Harmony Hill Drive, combing the woods for two men who tried to break into a home in the county early Tuesday.
Lt. Pete Maskunas with ACSO said an Angelina County homeowner caught the masked men in the act and called 911 around 3 a.m. Something scared them off and they left, driving a black Ford F150, which had been stolen out of Grand Prairie. A patrol officer found the suspect vehicle and got in a pursuit. The men abandoned the vehicle on Harmony Hill Drive and ran into the woods.
Maskunas said SWAT teams from Lufkin PD and the sheriff's office had been combing the woods, but the search was called off around 7 a.m.
