SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 20-year-old man was arrested in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area on an outstanding felony warrant from San Augustine County in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl multiple times.
Shelby W. Robinson was transferred to the San Augustine County Jail. He has been posted with six counts of first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault of a child. Collectively, his bail has been set at $300,000.
Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office said that the bond amount was that high because of the "egregious" nature of the alleged sexual assaults.
"The victim alleged that [Robinson] threatened to harm the girl or have others harm her," Cunningham said.
Cunningham said the sheriff office's investigation revealed that Robinson, who doesn't have a known residence had left Texas and was with a relative in the St. Louis, Missouri area. The St. Louis County Police Department picked Robinson up on the outstanding aggravated sexual assault warrant on Feb. 10.
