East Texas Church holding shoe drive for underprivileged

POLLOK, TX (KTRE) - The Clawson Assembly of God church has partnered with other Lufkin area schools and churches to collect shoes for those in need.

In honor of "Shoe The World Day" day on March 15th, the church will be collecting shoe donations from now until March 14th.

The shoes will be going to underprivileged people in Africa, India, Mexico as well as those in need right here in the  Lufkin area.

"It's something that we don't think about because most of us have five to ten pairs of shoes, if not more, in each of our closets," said Joshua Poage, Clawson Assembly Of God student ministries director. "Statistics say that in America we could take all of our extra shoes and give a pair to all of the people in the world that don't have any."

On March 15th, a pastor from South Africa will be at Clawson First Assembly to pick the shoes up and celebrate "Shoe The World Day" in East Texas.

You can drop your donations off in the drop-off box located in front of the church.
