ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A fire destroyed a house in the 2700 block of FM 2251 in northern Angelina County Thursday morning. No one was injured in the blaze.
According to Patrick McKelvey, the chief of the Rivercrest Volunteer Fire Department, the home is a total loss because of the fire and water damage it suffered. The retired couple who own the house weren't home when the fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, and fire officials are still trying to contact them
Five trucks from area fire departments responded to the fire. McKelvey said fire crews had the blaze under control within 10 to 15 minutes of when they arrived on the scene.
A neighbor said the loss of the home is going to be "devastating" to the couple.
