NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The first annual Big Nac Music Festival kicked off Thursday night in downtown Nacogdoches.
Forty artists ranging over a variety of genres will perform over the next four days in various venues in the downtown area including Banita Creek Hall, The Liberty Bell, and Mast Hall.
Nacogdoches native Kasey Lansdale opened the festival at the Banita Creek Hall and was honored to be able perform in her hometown.
"There is so much talent in not only East Texas, but Texas and the South in general," said Lansdale. "I'm so glad that they're bringing everybody together and I'm just thrilled that they're letting me be a part of it."
The organizers of the event, along with the performers, hope the festival will be a big hit and continue to eventually become a staple in Nacogdoches.
"I think it's great and I can't wait to see what they do next year, Lansdale said. "The line up this year is top notch. So, where do you go from there when this is your first year out?"
The festival will continue through Sunday. If you're interested in any of the show or venues, you can visit their website at
