LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man said he is grateful to be alive after a stabbing on Feb.27.

Jose Hernandez said he was going to his mom's house and decided to stop at a friends on the way. Hernandez claims when he got out of his truck, he saw two men.

"One was in the door and I saw him with a knife," Hernandez said. "I ran back to my truck and another one came from a vehicle and they both started going at me."

Hernandez said they threw him down to the ground, causing him to break his right arm, and he was then stabbed 13 times.

"I started freaking out," Hernandez said. "I started seeing a lot of blood. There wasn't much going through [my mind]. I was just fighting to try and make it."

Hernandez said he spent two days in ICU before being released from the hospital on Tuesday.

Lt. David Young with the Lufkin Police Department said after an investigation into the stabbing, the department believes 22 year-old Sergio Ibarra was involved and has issued a warrant for aggravated assault.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Lufkin Police Department.
