ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Zavalla Police Department arrested a 35-year-old man on a felony abandoning a child charge on Monday after the allegedly left two kids, ages 7 and 4, alone in a stolen RV trailer while he went to run errands.

Joseph Marbella IV, of Zavalla, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail, on two third-degree felony theft of property with previous convictions charges and a state-jail felony abandon or endanger a child charge. Collectively, his bail was set at $18,500.

Zavalla Police Chief Steve Drumm said that Marbella was supposed to be watching his girlfriend's two young children while she went to work. Instead, Marbella left them by themselves while he went to run errands, Drumm said.

Angelina County Sheriff's Office deputies went to the trailer to follow up on another investigation, and they found the children in the trailer, Drumm said.
