LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The City of Lufkin is into its fourth day of the statewide warrant round up event and is seeing large numbers.
City Marshal Mark Carnley said the municipal court room has been packed over the last two days.
"Yesterday we stayed busy all day long, and we haven't even got a count on how many yet," Carnley said. "We haven't been able to run a report yet. It's going to be pretty good as far as cases being solved."
Carnley said he expects to beat last year's numbers and hopes to beat the numbers brought in two years ago. Carnley is hoping to see around 800 warrants get taken care of.
Officers from the Lufkin City Marshal's Office are teaming team up with the Lufkin Police Department to go out and serve as many warrants as possible. The warrant sweep will be conducted from Saturday March 7 to Sunday 15. The Lufkin Municipal Court will be open the following dates and times: Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
