ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - County road pot holes have grown worse due to the recent weather in Angelina County.
"The problem we're having right now is all this rain and it's deteriorating our roads," said Angelina County Commissioner Greg Harrison.
With the roads already worn down from age and use, the weather allowed the asphalt to crack and made already existing pot holes larger. The county isn't able to start working on the problem until the roads dry.
"Until we can get started and get this water off of us, all we can do is just patch the best we can and get our machines ready to roll when it warms up," Harrison said.
However, the patching will just be temporary solution. All of the roads need to be permanently repaired, but there isn't enough money in the county budget.
"I wish I could make all of the roads perfect today, but I can't," Harrison said. "We just can't afford it."
The roads that experience more traffic will be fixed first, but the county assures that all of the roads are important and will repaired in time.
"Bare with us, it has been terribly wet this year," said Harrison. "We will get them fixed. We're going to do everything we can to make sure that happens."
Angelina County commissioners ask that you report any pot holes you see to your precinct immediately.
