NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Theater students at Stephen F Austin State University are raising money to participate in an international theater festival to be held this summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
You can help out as early as Friday night.
That's when the SFA students who wrote of one of the two plays to be performed in Scotland will read their play titled, "Mom and Dad." The other play to be performed in Scotland was written by the playwright in residence at SFA.
Students will not only receive a 12-day stay in Scotland, but gain the experience of touring their productions. Of course, the privilege isn't free.
"It is an expensive trip," said Angela Bacarisse, a theater professor at SFA. "The students have a few scholarships, but in order to allay the cost of the trip we are doing a benefit performance, Friday, 7:30 p.m. here in the upstage theater which is on the third floor of Griffith Fine Arts Building."
Arrangements can be made for members of the public to go on the trip too. The Ediburgh Festival Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world with over 2,000 performing companies. The College Festival accepts six to seven schools per year, so SFA is considering it quite an accomplishment to have been selected.
