KATY, TX (KTRE) - The SFA Ladyjacks will not be advancing to the Southland Conference Tournament Finals after losing to Houston Baptist University 88-81.
The number one seeded women's team most recently earned the title of Southland Conference Champions, after a their rival game against Sam Houston.
The Ladyjacks carried a close lead through the first half.
HBU kept the score close with multiple three-pointers, while the 'Jacks remained kept scoring inside the paint.
The second half seemed to teeter-tottered between the two teams, with multiple instances where the teams were completely tied up.
SFA Senior Tierany Henderson landed a three-pointer to bring the 'Jacks within one point of HBU with less than a minute left in the game,f but it was not enough to prevent the upset.
The Ladyjacks took the HBU women's team to the foul line multiple times during the last 30 seconds. It was within that time that HBU gained their 7 point lead.
Despite today's loss, the Ladyjacks have racked up a number of achievements during the 2014-2015 season including: Southland Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Porscha Roberts, Coach of the Year Brandon Schneider, and all-conference qualifiers Taylor Ross and Tierany Henderson.
