SFA 'Jacks speak on NCAA tournament at selection show viewing

The SFA Lumberjacks are putting on their dancing shoes one more time, as the team won the Southland Conference tournament last night for the third year in a row.

Today the team gathered for the news that determines their tournament fate.

"Selection Sunday, for Basketball people is a big big day and when you have your ticket punch and you know you're in, there is a sense of relief but also tremendous excitement," said Head Coach Brad Underwood.

For players like point guard Trey Pinkerton, the anticipation was more than they could handle.

"It gets kind of nerve racking," said Pinkney. "Heart was racing until we finally saw who we play."

Southland Conference Player of the Year and MVP Thomas Walkup admits moments like tonight never get old for the Cinderella team.

"It's extremely exciting, just to have your name called out on national television and seeing the draw we got," said Walkup. "It's exciting."

As the 'Jacks heads in to their first game against Utah, starters like Jacob Parker explain that the team is dealing with some different factors than they were last year at this time.

"We're kind of hurting with some injuries right now, so trying to get some those guys back and get them healthy, and I think we'll be alright," said Parker.

Despite recent injury, the 'Jacks have only one vision in mind.

"Preparing to win," said Walkup.

Let the Madness begin.
