ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Angelina County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 17-year-old man on an animal cruelty charge after he allegedly got angry because his mother wouldn't give him $20, and shot three dogs, killing two of them.

Colton David Cook, of Huntington, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a Class A misdemeanor cruelty to non-livestock animals charge. His bail has been set at $1,500.

According to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office report, the incident happened in the 11000 block of 103 East at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Cook got upset because his mother wouldn't give him $20. He then went outside and used a 7 mm rifle to shoot the ground and at three pit bull dogs, killing two of them outright, the report stated. Because the other dog was wounded and suffering, the mother had to put it down.

The ACSO deputies took the gun and arrested Cook for cruelty to animals.

Two of the dogs were his, and the other belonged to his parents, according to the report.
