Group raises $4k in tea cake benefit

DIBOLL, TX (KTRE) -

A group of Angelina County churches have raised more than $4,000 in their annual tea cake benefit.

This year, the funds go to David Ray Krunk, who is waiting for a heart transplant. His grandparents live in the Diboll area.

The group is made up of members from Diboll UMC, Burke UMC, Ryan Chapel UMC and St.Paul's UMC. The group had all the supplies donated so all of the money raised will go to the family.

This is just the latest project the tea cakes have helped. Over the last six years, the group has picked various charitable events to help out with.

The group baked and sold more than 700 dozen tea cakes.
